Antibiotics

Antibiotics may be prescribed in conjunction with, or following your appointment.  It is important to take them as prescribed.  Do not miss doses, stop taking them, or take more than is prescribed.  Alcohol is not recommended while on antibiotics, as it alters the effectiveness of the drug.  Antibiotics also alters the effectiveness of birth control and can result in unwanted pregnancies.  If you are prescribed antibiotics please use additional birth control methods.  Antibiotics can alter intestinal flora, which can result in severe diarrhea. Prebiotics such as honey, garlic, bananas, whole grains, and onions can help maintain intestinal flora.  In addition, over-the-counter probiotics such as yogurt, etc can also be invaluable.
